Abstract: An import allocation was used to investigate Japan's citrus subsector and its import demand for citrus. Results of this study indicate that US fresh grapefruit exports to Japan would have to compete against imports of bananas and pineapples for the Japanese import dollars, and that US citrus juice exports would have to compete against the juices from Brazil and Israel.
