CCS in the UK: The continuing fall out

Abstract: As 2015 drew to a close, the UK's carbon capture and storage (CCS) community, and indeed the global CCS community, was rocked by the UK government's decision to withdraw £1 billion of funding which had been ring fenced for the commercialization of CCS in the UK. The government had perhaps hoped that by putting the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, forward to explain the cut, a line could have been drawn under the matter. But it wasn't to be. In this follow‐up article Muriel Cozier looks at the continuing fallout and how the CCS industry views the future development of the technology in the UK. © 2016 Society of Chemical Industry and John Wiley & Sons, Ltd
