Abstract:
A scaling theory for the parallel efficiency of simulations on MIMD computers is presented. It is successfully applied to the performance results recently reported by Kohring and Stauffer for different algorithms on an Intel i860 Hypercube. The discrepancies between the measured scaling exponents and our predictions are resolved within the framework of our general theory.
