Abstract: The charge density around a static charge is investigated within finite temperature QCD and compact QED both in the chirally broken and symmetric phase. We display the functional behavior of the charge polarization for various masses of the sea particles and for static sources in higher representations. The total induced charge is found to be consistent with the results from the MILC Collaboration.
