Abstract: An efficient simulation algorithm for random sequential adsorption of discs is implemented. By dividing the surface into small squares, depositions are attempted only on squares that are actually possible. A crucial part is a method to identify the available squares. A precise value of the jamming coverage is obtained:θ(∞)≈0.547069. The asymptotic lawθ(t)≈θ(∞)−ct−1/2is verified to a high accuracy. The pair correlation function at the jamming state is analyzed.
