Abstract: I show how the idea of lattice gases started in kinetic theory of gases, specifically as a way to study the divergences of the density expansion beyond the Boltzmann order. I end up by sketching an attempt made in informal discussions with Brosl Hasslacher to build a quantum lattice gas.
