Abstract: Prof. Dr. H. C. Dietrich Stauffer passed away on August 6, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. He was for many years the Managing Editor of International Journal of Modern Physics C. The scientific community of statistical and computational physics has lost one of its prominent figures, who has shaped the field for over almost five decades.
