Abstract: This introduction to Part I of the handbook situates the section's chapters within comparative histories of legal education shaped by colonial legacies, cosmopolitan traditions, and contemporary neoliberal transformations. Moving across case studies in Canada, Colombia, Scotland, and beyond, it foregrounds locally grounded institutions that both resist and rework global hegemonies in law and the university. Together, the chapters frame legal education as a contested site of social change, public interest, and political struggle rather than a neutral or purely marketized enterprise.
