Industry organization, media management and media economics
Ulrike Rohn
Chapter 9 in A Research Agenda for Media Economics, 2019, pp 144-158 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The chapter introduces areas and questions for future research by media management and media economics scholars that will further our understanding of how media industries are organized. It starts by describing how these two fields of scholarship are connected. This is followed by a research agenda that includes research questions under the following headlines: technological change, policies, globalization, business models and decision making. The research questions this chapter proposes reveal how research in media management and media economics is intertwined. They also show that these fields of scholarship differ from other related scholarly fields, including general management studies and economics.
