Abstract: This chapter describes two labs that we use to teach health economics (HE) principles to health professional students. These labs have been refined over the 20 years of use in the classroom. We begin this chapter by describing the context for which these labs were created with regard to the educational program, course learning objectives, course material, and time plan. We follow this with a discussion of the two labs. The first lab covers the health economic concepts underlying health insurance. The second reviews economic evaluation methods and the concept of opportunity cost.
