Technological dimension in innovation orientation

Chapter 8 in Innovation Orientation in Business Services, 2021, pp 128-140 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Chapter 8 focuses on the technology dimension of the innovation orientation of business services firms. Technologies develop very dynamically, being one of the main causes of turbulence in a company’s environment. At the same time, they permeate every aspect of the company’s operations, providing capabilities for innovation in processes and services. In particular, business services firms, when providing knowledge-based services, should not only be familiar with widespread but also, or perhaps most of all, emergent technologies, in striving to achieve innovation orientation. This chapter presents and discusses the meaning of technology for BS firms that recognise the potential of adopting a technology orientation. Due to the nature of business services, these companies must be constantly ahead in the field of technology, which is why the authors decided to pay special attention to the issues of technological turbulence, adoption and business capabilities, as well as technological solutions with the greatest potential, which will shape the nearest future of BS firms. This chapter proves that BS firms must keep up with technology to develop innovation orientation.
