Discussion begins with an explanation of and motivation for using the "deep work" approach followed by a series of guiding questions to help the instructor identify the aspects of deep teaching work that must be addressed, on a topic-by-topic basis, when developing and delivering an effective course. The second part of the chapter identifies ten essential concepts for the microeconomics principles course. And the third part demonstrates the application of these guiding questions to one of those essential concepts. While a useful approach educators at any stage of their career who might be developing or revising a course, this "deep work" approach and subsequent advice might be especially valuable to the new economic educator.
