Abstract:
This chapter provides information on the 27 best-selling Principles of Microeconomics textbooks in the United States. To help make the textbook evaluation process easier, it provides 13 areas, or dimension, that you can consider when selecting a textbook for adoption. Those dimensions are approach, authors' background, contemporary issues, content & organization, course length, diversity, online platform (aka courseware) and instructional aids, price, product differentiation, publisher, readability, rigor, and style. Each dimension poses relevant questions for an instructor to consider well as advice on those considerations. Additionally, the article provides information on changes to the textbook market, some critiques, the future of the textbook market, and common content differences across textbooks.
