 Further non-teaching perspectives on aspects of the higher education sector impacted by COVID-19Maren Deepwell, Rachel Crookes and Matt Smith Chapter 7 in Digital Learning in Higher Education, 2022, pp 69-76 from Edward Elgar Publishing Abstract: This chapter comprises two shorter papers: one from Maren Deepwell and Matt Smith, who note that this global pandemic has changed the Learning Technology landscape across sectors here in the UK and across the globe. Never before have learners of all ages engaged with learning, teaching and assessment using digital technologies at this scale; nor has the role of Learning Technologists have been as important - or as challenging - as it has been since the advent of the pandemic. The worldwide pivot to online and blended learning has put Learning Technologists under pressure and brought their role in supporting, training and guiding staff and students centre stage. Key findings from ALT's sector survey are presented, painting a picture of Learning Technologists at the helm of moving over 90% of provision to online and blended formats. The second paper, from Rachel Crookes, gives some of the impacts at an academic publishing house as the staff worked collaboratively to develop their response.
