Abstract: This chapter explores acculturation during mergers and acquisitions, explaining the different modes of cultural adaptation between acquiring and target firms: integration, assimilation, separation, and deculturation. The chapter highlights the role of social integration mechanisms, HR practices, and sensemaking in managing acculturative stress and promoting successful cultural harmonization.
