Accessibility as an emerging field
Boris Vukovic
Chapter 13 in Handbook of Higher Education and Disability, 2023, pp 165-176 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter will explore the notion of accessibility as an emerging interdisciplinary, possibly transdisciplinary, field of research and practice in higher education. What disciplines have the relevant knowledge to contribute to this emerging field? Can disciplinary knowledge crossover, integration, and building take place among those diverse epistemological and historical perspectives? How do we assess the potential of accessibility as a new field where theory and practice come together to address complex issues for the benefit of persons with disabilities and society at large?
