Abstract: This chapter begins by exploring the importance of project performance and definitions of project success, as well as the critical role of the project manager. It then provides an outline of the book, which is divided into three parts: “Backdrop,” “Tactics, Strategies, and Risks,” and “Next Practices.” The chapter gives an overview of the following 18 chapters and highlights the key points in each chapter. It concludes with some final thoughts about how a “project culture” can be cultivated that is conducive to project performance.
