Chapter 23 in Handbook of Research on Strategic Leadership in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, 2024, pp 526-539 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter focuses on the implications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution for the design of leadership development interventions at the strategic apex of the organization. It also identifies some individual-level career concerns that should guide such interventions. Rather than detailing specific designs, the chapter identifies a number of design principles that should underpin senior leadership development programmes. While leaders need to focus on both the external environment and internal dynamics of the organization, the chapter also highlights the importance of addressing disruptive and sustaining innovations and market and non-market factors in development programmes.
