Abstract: Since postsecondary education is increasingly moving online or incorporating online learning experiences and environments, it is essential for the well-being of educators and students to develop competencies in effective online teaching. This chapter explains principles of learning science, emotion science, and the theoretical frameworks of Universal Design for Learning and Community of Inquiry to identify practices that enhance equitable student learning and success in online spaces.
