Chapter 4 in Cases on Born Globals, 2024, pp 40-55 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Born Global firms have seen their businesses as global since their inception and thus quickly internationalised. This case presents the story of CLOUDTECH, which has not experienced linear growth in its internationalisation. First, we will present the context to understand the sector and CLOUDTECH’s business. Then, in the following sections, we will show how CLOUDTECH embraced its international growth and responded to its stagnation period. Throughout this case, we aim to discuss Born Globals’ internationalisation. We want to stress the evolution of CLOUDTECH as a Born Global firm and show that small international firms do not necessarily follow linear growth and internationalisation. This case emphasises the role played by managerial decisions and their impacts on earlier internationalisation.
