Abstract:
This chapter focuses on mapping as a way of knowing and explains a selection of various types of maps and how they might be used in an interdisciplinary classroom. The types of maps discussed include research and issue, systems, actor, trend, and timeline mapping. It also focuses on how those maps might be used in workshops in interdisciplinary classrooms with exercises and applications for teaching students to use mapping strategies. The chapter ends with a discussion of successes, challenges, and gaining student investment in mapping as a way of knowing.
