Chapter 24 in Research Handbook on Health Education, Health Promotion and Diversity, 2025, pp 352-364 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Increasing life expectancies are contributing to the world's older adult population's continued growth. Technological advances result in improved health status, and the effective development of medications to control chronic diseases has increased life spans. Additionally, older adults realize the importance of good health and well-being, leading them to walk, practice Tai Chi, play pickleball, and swim among other physical activities. Furthermore, more older adults engage in lifelong learning activities and seek ways to be socially active in their community, religious organizations, and family celebrations. Nevertheless, more information is needed about the health needs of older adults. This chapter provides some suggestions for conducting research with this population group.
