A chapter in Handbook on Leadership Education and Impact, 2025, pp 1-4 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter introduces the Handbook on Leadership Education and Impact, positioning leadership education as a vital pathway for addressing global challenges and advancing equity, democracy, and community well-being. Despite its transformative potential, leadership education remains inaccessible to most. This volume explores how to increase both access and impact of leadership education through a multidisciplinary, global lens. Organized into three parts—definitions, disciplinary integration, and strategies for advancement—the Handbook bridges theory, research, and practice. The editors and chapter authors challenge readers to evaluate leadership education through the examination of its return on learning and ultimate return on investment.
