Chapter 15 in Handbook on Leadership Education and Impact, 2025, pp 195-211 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter explores the transformative potential of leadership within educational institutions by advocating for a proactive, inclusive model that addresses systemic inequities. Grounded in Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (J.E.D.I.) principles, this chapter emphasizes the need for leaders who can foster environments where all members thrive. By integrating these principles into the curriculum and institutional culture, colleges of education can cultivate a new cadre of leaders adept at navigating contemporary and future challenges. Drawing on evidence-based practices, case studies, and reflective exercises, we present a comprehensive framework for Justice-Enriched K–12 Leadership. This approach aims to attract, develop, and retain transformational leaders committed to equity and inclusion. Ultimately, this chapter underscores the symbiotic relationship between leadership and J.E.D.I., highlighting the essential role of inclusive leadership in catalyzing positive change within educational institutions and the broader community.
