Chapter 23 in Handbook on Leadership Education and Impact, 2025, pp 303-316 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Leadership education encompasses a wide range of disciplines, yet often overlooks the contributions of women and gender studies. This chapter aims to examine the significance and potential of incorporating a women and gender studies theoretical approach into leadership education in the United States. The chapter will identify gaps and predictors of impact and synthesize and interpret themes from existing literature on leadership education and the women and gender studies framework. Finally, it will present forward-thinking proposals to enhance leadership education through the adoption of a women and gender studies framework.
