Abstract: This chapter explores how scholars in the field of Critical Work and Organizational (W-O) Psychology can deepen their understanding of this field by engaging with the complexities and power dynamics of gender, drawing on recent developments in Organization Studies (OS). We advocate for a critical approach informed by insights from feminist, critical, and psychoanalytic gender studies, as well as queer theory – perspectives that have helped shape feminist OS over the past three decades. We commence by contextualizing the importance of feminist perspectives and what they offer this field of study, charting developments relevant for critical W-O psychology and raising the critical questions feminists have been grappling with, examining the historical development of this field and taking stock of its current debates that destabilize the very concept of gender. Through this critical engagement, we offer an overview of the intersection of critical W-O psychology and gender/feminist studies and propose future directions for the field.
