Afterword: reflections on where we have been and where we are going

Abstract: The afterword to this volume explores previous chapters to identify themes connecting them and what these themes mean in the context of the current state of research on decision making in groups and teams (broadly construed) and where the field appears to be going next. Several of the themes identified represent new takes on topics of longstanding interest to the field (e.g., information sharing and use, composition and compilation, group structure) while others reflect ways in which the nature of groups and teams, and research on them, is changing in response to technological development (e.g., increasing virtuality of teams, incorporating AI into group or team structure and process, and applying AI to groups and teams research).
