Neuroeducation
Evangelia Ioanna Politi
Chapter 52 in Elgar Concise Encyclopedia of Neuroscience and Management, 2026, pp 184-187 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This entry reviews neuroeducation as an interdisciplinary field combining neuroscience, psychology, and education to understand how the brain learns. It explores key neurobiological mechanisms such as neuroplasticity, memory, and emotion, and examines applications including gamification, microlearning, eye-tracking, and multisensory teaching. These approaches demonstrate how understanding the ‘learning brain’ can enhance motivation, retention, and inclusivity in educational and corporate contexts. Current limitations are highlighted, including neuromyths and the gap between neuroscience research and classroom practice, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration for the future of effective, evidence-based learning design.
