Abstract:
By revealing the biological foundations of resistance to change, this entry explores how neuroscience can enhance understanding of change management. It highlights how brain mechanisms, especially those involving the amygdala, limbic system, and prefrontal cortex, govern threat and reward responses during organizational transitions. Insights are applied from neuroplasticity, the SCARF framework, and emotional regulation to develop strategies for minimizing resistance, fostering psychological safety, and promoting adaptive, insight-driven learning. It is suggested that organizations can create environments that encourage engagement, resilience, and successful, sustainable change by aligning leadership practices with the brain's natural processes.
