Abstract:
Value-based decision-making is a central area of research in neuroscience that explores how the brain evaluates and selects alternatives based on subjective preferences. Two neural circuits are discussed: the valuation circuit, which learns and encodes values, and the choice circuit, which compares these values to guide selection. Neural substrates that underpin these processes are presented, too. Applied to management, this area of study informs neuroeconomic and neuromanagement approaches, providing insight into areas such as leadership and motivation. Integrating neural insights into managerial practice has the potential to foster biologically grounded strategies for decision-making, innovation, and self-regulation within complex organisational environments.
