Chapter 28 in How to Scale Engagement and Impact in Universities, 2025, pp 311-324 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
We will explore the role of civic research partnership collaborations between universities and local partners and how this work can lead onto broader societal impacts. This chapter will consider the different methods and techniques that can be utilised, including practitioner collaborations, policy-responsive commissions, secondments, advisory roles, and how these methods enable increased potential for achieving impact on policy and practice. We will review how these approaches can overcome the barriers and challenges of scaling impact, such as building trust, developing networks and understanding the policy landscape.
