Engagement and impact: why, who, how, and what for? Shifting landscapes and an accreditation perspective
Piet Naude
Chapter 5 in How to Scale Engagement and Impact in Universities, 2025, pp 44-55 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter pursues the topic of engagement and impact in accreditation practices by unpacking why engagement and impact have become such important features of higher education in general, and for business schools in particular. It is important to understand the nature of engagement with partners as well as how this can be captured and assessed. The chapter concludes by contemplating how to progress from ‘engage’ to ‘impact’ as well as reflecting on the purpose and benefits.
