Abstract: This chapter examines GenAI's evolving role in relation to academic integrity, cognitive development, and assessment design in education. It introduces the concept of amplified intelligence emerging from students’ sustained, ethical engagement with GenAI and co-construction of knowledge through iterative, reflective interaction. Grounded in Clark and Chalmers’ theory of the extended mind, the chapter argues that GenAI functions as a cognitive partner supporting student thinking, particularly when integrated into formative assessment. It distinguishes learning from, with, and through GenAI to clarify pedagogical implications and strengthen conceptual precision. The chapter calls for localized, responsive approaches to GenAI adoption that center ethical use, student agency, and academic integrity, and underscores the importance of collaborative frameworks between secondary and postsecondary institutions to ensure coherent learning pathways and shared accountability. The chapter envisions a future in which GenAI is both a tool of convenience and a catalyst for critical inquiry, ethical scholarship, and innovative pedagogy.
