Abstract: This chapter examines how academic integrity must evolve due to the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education, where pre-digital notions of authorship and originality prove inadequate. Drawing on the concept of collaborative intelligence that emphasizes complementary strengths of humans and machines, the chapter proposes a four-principle framework—meaningful human control, shared responsibility, respect for human judgment, and empowerment through education—to guide ethical human–AI collaboration and to rethink integrity in contexts where AI acts both as a tool and a collaborator. Three practical scenarios demonstrate the framework's applicability to support ethical academic practice. The chapter outlines implications for educators, researchers, and institutions, highlighting the need for proactive policy, AI literacy, and inclusive dialogue. By treating AI integration as a pedagogical and ethical opportunity rather than a threat, the chapter encourages academic communities to foster responsible co-authorship and uphold scholarly values in the age of collaborative intelligence.
