Abstract: The logistics of community-engaged teaching are unique and present us with important considerations. While matters such as risk management, travel, and background knowledge/reading may seem like added challenges to incorporating community engagement in the classroom, these considerations are critically important as community-engaged work gets underway. This chapter offers readers strategies to identify supportive structures and contextualize logistics within the broader geographic and institutional frameworks that promote community-engaged learning. Contextualizing logistics within larger frameworks helps us not only more readily identify resources, but also anticipate how broader contexts may inform the capacity for engaged work at our institution.
