Abstract: The aim of this book chapter is to provide theoretical and practical information on stress, coping and resilience in families raising children with special needs. The present chapter presents the prevalence of special needs in Europe and reviews studies focused on family stress, chronic sorrow, individual and dyadic coping strategies in family and resilience. Suggestions for stress management are provided to parents; they could find information on special education services and useful online resources in order to cope with stress.
