Abstract: Abstract Given that the concept of performance-based training has existed for over 30 years and several tools have arisen to demonstrate that it works, one might expect that, by 2008, both training culture and practice—that is, the value and belief system of people who design, develop, and deliver learning programs for the workplace—would seamlessly incorporate performance. That a promotion for a seminar by a major training magazine asks “Is performance-based training a trend or an approach that can truly deliver compelling business results?” suggests otherwise.
