Abstract There are many strong economic and political arguments for the importance of acknowledging, understanding, monitoring and perhaps influencing the images of places: as I summarized the point in Competitive Identity, if a country has a good image, everything is easy; if it has a bad or weak image, everything is twice as hard and costs twice as much.
