Chapter 66 in Handbook of Top Management Teams, 2010, pp 569-575 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The questions raised by the new corporate governance are changing and will continue to change the CEO’s role dramatically With the growing number of shareholders, the relationship between the leadership function and the governance function is not as simple as it was in the 1980s. We show what has changed and why and how, in the next few decades, the role of the CEO will call for skill in political manoeuvring rather than technical expertise.
