Chapter 70 in Handbook of Top Management Teams, 2010, pp 601-609 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Corporate governance systems differ in the extent to which they grant participation and co-determination rights to employees. Germany has a very sophisticated system of employee participation and co-determination. This contribution outlines how ‘Mitbestimmung’ affects the corporate governance of German firms. The advantages and disadvantages of participation and co-determination as well as future developments are discussed.
