Executive Coaching in Action: The MD as Team Coach

Tony Chapman, Bill Best and Paul Van Casteren

Chapter Chapter 9 in Executive Coaching, 2003, pp 183-190 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract John decided that he needed some help. Only after some searching did he engage an executive coach. After 18 months in post as incoming MD of a nuclear technology division of Rolls-Royce, he knew he should be making more progress. His brief was complex and company-wide. He had interviewed two previous coaching candidates prior to our meeting and had found neither suitable. According to his comment subsequently, ‘I felt we just clicked – it was more about chemistry than anything tangible, but I felt we could work together.’
