Dealing with the Media

Tom Curtin and Jacqueline Jones

Chapter 13 in Managing Green Issues, 2000, pp 145-166 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Green is a good story and media like the underdog. Journalists often see themselves as consumer champions so empathise with the green groups. But more important, green groups can deliver a good ‘shock horror story’. Their real power is the power to accuse and highlight — their focus is entertainment first, information second. Politicians like and hate the media — they speak the same basic language.
