Abstract: Abstract The pattern of globalization followed by the major automakers can so far be split into three stages. The first stage is exporting. At this stage the goal is to create a car that fits into a world-wide automobile category. The second stage of globalization comes after the expansion of exporting. This is the setting up of transplants in major market regions. The final stage of globalization is the complete localization of transplants on the one hand and the establishment of a global business network on the other.
