Abstract: Abstract The conversation with José Luis Tamayo documents the process of designing and setting up the Teatro Real’s Operational system. It is rare to find an Operations Director who was able to ‘set up shop’ from scratch, without being subordinate to previous structures or norms. This is why the interview with him was a unique chance to vicariously experience the creation of a sophisticated system of Operations from the ground up, and straight from the mouth of the principal protagonist.
