Chapter IX in The New Operational Culture, 2009, pp 76-91 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Operational efficiency, after the Operational Dream, is a function of designing its structure in adequate detail. Unfortunately, in Operations every last detail needs to be specified. It is not enough to discuss or make grandiloquent promises. How many HP should this engine have, and where should it be mounted in the car? How should it start and stop? And after that comes a long list of etceteras. In this task, with so many decisions, one runs the risk of losing focus; that the presence of so many trees will obscure one’s view of the woods. José Luis Tamayo was entrusted with two main tasks — define the dream, and then make it happen. In this chapter, we’re going to look at the second of these tasks.
