Abstract: Abstract Nebraska is located in the West North Central region of the United States and had a population of 1.8 million people in 2006, making it the thirteenth least populous state. The state’s population increased by 57,068 people from 2000 to 2006, and is projected to increase only slightly by 2025. The 0.1% projected annual growth rate is below the national average of 0.8%. Per capita personal income in Nebraska was $34,383 in 2006, up from $32,833 in 2005. For 2006, this was $2,246 below the national average and the twenty-sixth lowest in the country. The state’s per capita income grew at an average annual rate of 3.7% from 2000 to 2006, compared to 3.5% nationally.
