Dealing with the Media
Tom Curtin
Chapter 15 in Managing Green Issues, 2007, pp 173-190 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Green is a good story and the media like the underdog. Journalists often see themselves as consumer champions so empathize with the green groups. But more important, green groups can deliver a good “shock horror story.” Their real power is the power to accuse and highlight — their focus is entertainment first, information second. Politicians like and hate the media — they speak the same basic language.
