Launching and Managing Issues-related Projects
Tom Curtin
Chapter 8 in Managing Green Issues, 2007, pp 79-96 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract If you want to launch a new perfume, a new car and almost any other consumer product, the methodologies for doing it are fairly obvious. Because it is new, it is exciting. People will be curious, people will want it. Even cynical media will gush over it. However, for some reason, people cannot create the same sensation when launching a new incinerator, a piece of highly controversial legislation or plans to build a new prison or a hostel for people with AIDS. However, organizations still continue to use old, well-tried — and it has to be said, well-failed — methods of launching and managing controversial projects.
