Abstract: Abstract When we moved to the Washington, DC, suburbs in 2010, we started searching for a new home. One community fulfilled most of our wish list: it provided quiet, tree-lined streets, safe neighborhoods, mature landscaping, and large lots. That was the good news. The bad news was the mature trees, which reach one hundred feet tall or higher, creating a hazard when hurricanes hit the region.
