Abstract:
Abstract I shun packaged produce, and feel a deep sadness when our garden withers in the fall. Picking berries and greens and buying fresh, local produce have been joyful yet temporary pleasures from the time I was a young girl. My dad used to grow rhubarb and cucumbers, which my grandmother would magically turn into strawberry rhubarb preserves and sweet pickles.
